The Kalama Sourdough Bakery has always been a family-centered, community-focused business with deep ties to Kalama. Robert Ahrens started the company as a homeschool project with the help of his parents and grandparents. He initially sold his products at farmers' markets and around town before opening a store in the Kalama Shopping Center. The community played a significant role in the success of his business, and Robert is proud of what his company has become. He is continually seeking opportunities to give back and express his gratitude by collaborating with organizations like Kalama Helping Hands, participating in community projects, and taking part in local events such as the cultural festival, Kalama fair, and Chamber of Commerce Parade.
Every year, we eagerly look forward to participating in the Kalama Chamber of Commerce parade. It's an amazing opportunity to connect with our wonderful customers and distribute tasty sourdough rolls! In the days leading up to the parade, our team goes into a frenzy, baking and packaging over 400 6-pack rolls to give out. Everyone gets excited to dress up, gather for the parade, and enjoy a fun-filled fair day! And the town of Kalama always shows up and stands out! The overwhelming sense of community and joy is why we LOVE supporting the town we come from.
We greatly appreciate the feedback we receive from our customers and the opportunity to partner with local businesses. Their input and support are crucial to our commitment to producing high-quality products and providing exceptional customer service. The community has always been and will remain an integral part of Kalama Sourdough Bakery. It's at the heart of all the delicious creations that come from our ovens.
